Major revolutions in medicine over the last 50 years

Many changes have occurred in medical science and practice over the last 50 years. Today medicine is truly multidisciplinary, ranging from biology, to physics, to automation and information technology.

All this new knowledge cannot be entrusted to a single professional. Physicians therefore need to share experiences and work with other professionals including pharmacists, biologists, nurses, psychologists, physicists.

The revolution that has occurred over the last decades has changed forever the life of our patients and the way we approach patient care. As shown in summary form in table 1, technology has changed in all fields of medicine and, with technology, our mindset has changed too.
