Abstract

A consultant contacted the Medicines Information service for advice on whether there were any drug interactions between a patient's medications that could be causing or contributing to her frequent episodes of hyponatraemia and seizures. Drug interactions were investigated, but the enquiry was also dealt with as an adverse drug reaction enquiry. This case highlights the importance of thinking laterally, anticipating further questions and considering other factors that the enquirer may have overlooked.
