We are very interested in studies published by Chu et al and Šíma et al.1 2 Briefly, the former studies reported that the steady-state trough concentration of vancomycin was mainly affected by age, and the latter proposed an easy-to-use dosing nomogram for vancomycin therapy initiation. Both studies provided clear patient characteristics, and their interesting outcomes garnered our attention.

In China, the overprescription of antibiotics has been particularly severe in the past few decades, and the results of the national bacterial resistance monitoring network of China's Health Planning Commission in 2015 revealed that bacterial resistance is extremely serious. To solve this problem, every year, China's Ministry of Public Health organises a special examination for the rational use of antibiotics and standardises the use of antibiotics at all levels of hospitals.
