Abdeltawab et al 1 recently published a paper in the European Journal of Hospital Pharmacy which gave an excellent report of the effectiveness of metaraminol in critically ill patients with shock. After comparing the effects of norepinephrine with or without metaraminol, meaningful results were provided. As the authors reported, patients who received norepinephrine together with metaraminol needed a longer time for resolution of shock. As a clinical pharmacist working in the ICU for more than 10 years, I hold the opinion that norepinephrine plays a key role in the treatment of ICU patients with shock.2 The abovementioned finding is important for doctors and …
