This article has been retracted by the journal due to peer review manipulation. Upon review of the submission history for the manuscript, BMJ found indications that the peer review process was compromised. The manuscript’s authors recommended three reviewers with non-institutional email addresses and one of these reviewers provided their review. When contacted via their institutional email address, the individual confirmed they had provided no such review to the journal and that the email address associated with the reviewer account was not theirs. The authors were given the opportunity to respond to this concern but did not provide an adequate explanation. Furthermore, the authors failed to provide BMJ with other relevant information such as the raw data and details of ethics submission.
