Acute pancreatitis in a patient treated with losartan
2014, Atencion PrimariaValsartan, a specific angiotensin II receptor blocker, inhibits pancreatic fluid secretion via vagal afferent pathway in conscious rats
2012, Regulatory PeptidesCitation Excerpt :Previous population-based case–control studies [33,34] have not supported the hypothesis of the causative effect of antihypertensive medications with ACE inhibitors and ARBs on acute pancreatitis. However, a number of reports showed that ACE inhibitors [35,36] and ARBs [37,38] have been associated with acute pancreatitis, and the mechanisms of acute pancreatitis remain unknown. In the current study, valsartan at 25 mg/kg significantly increased protein concentration of PJ compared with basal level.
Drug-Induced Acute Pancreatitis: An Evidence-Based Review
2007, Clinical Gastroenterology and HepatologyCitation Excerpt :In the case reported by Bosch,35 enalapril (10 mg/day for 5 months) was discontinued secondary to the development of a chronic cough. In the case reported by Birck et al,36 the patient developed acute pancreatitis, which led to the discontinuation of enalapril (2.5 mg for 5 days) and losartan. After normalization of amylase and lipase levels, both patients were rechallenged with losartan alone.
